Striking in every sense – these matchboxes are filled with 125 matchsticks ready to spark a little joy. Designed to add character to coffee tables, mantelpieces, and gift drawers, each box is a blend of function and flair.
Meet the artist: Inspired by her travels and a love of colour, French illustrator Ariane Butto brings romantic beauty and vibrant hues to her collections with Archivist Gallery. After training in graphic and textile design, and brimming with inspiration from her journeys, she began her career as an illustrator in 2018. Working entirely by hand, Ariane creates everything from rich, full-colour gouache paintings to intricate black-and-white pieces in the style of old engravings - each infused with her signature elegance and charm.

- Product Care: These matches are made from natural products and may contain inherent structural flaws. Whilst Archivist take time to test the matches, they cannot reasonably test every single one, so strike the match gently (easy does it!) and away from you, over non-combustible surfaces.

Archivist is run by husband and wife duo William and Sarah, but the last 20 years we have slowly welcomed some other brave souls into the mix. With guest appearances by our daughter Madeleine, and the very brave Katie (the first employee not to be a member of the family) to the newest addition at our letterpress printers. We all share the conviction that gift giving is a joy, and that the world is a bit brighter with a mix of beautiful things and a touch of William’s wit.
