Meet the artists: Louise Lockhart is the illustrator behind
The Printed Peanut, a joyful world of colourful designs inspired by vintage textiles, folk art, and everyday life. After graduating from Glasgow School of Art, and armed with a love of print (and a jar of peanut butter), she began screen printing in the bathroom of her tiny apartment—and The Printed Peanut was born.
She’s the artist behind Archivists beloved Sardine Matchbox and Perfect Match
designs. Louise’s distinctive style - created using hand-cut paper shapes and her trusty brass scissors - is known for its playful lines, bold colours, and charming sense of humour.

- How It Is Made: Letterpress Printed in the UK with gold foil.
- Product Care: These matches are made from natural products and may contain inherent structural flaws. Whilst Archivist take time to test the matches, we cannot reasonably test every single one, so strike the match gently (easy does it!) and away from you, over non-combustible surfaces.
- Sustainability: Wrapped in a compostable cello.

Archivist is run by husband and wife duo William and Sarah, but the last 20 years we have slowly welcomed some other brave souls into the mix. With guest appearances by our daughter Madeleine, and the very brave Katie (the first employee not to be a member of the family) to the newest addition at our letterpress printers. We all share the conviction that gift giving is a joy, and that the world is a bit brighter with a mix of beautiful things and a touch of William’s wit.
